Smart Tourism Index is an independent project exploring how public data can offer a more structured view of destination value in Switzerland.
Hello, my name is Clemens. I work in Swiss tourism across sales, strategy, and transformation, and I built Smart Tourism Index as an independent project to explore whether public data can offer a more structured view of destination value in Switzerland.
The idea came from observing how demand concentrates around the same well-known destinations — and wondering whether that was inevitable or partly a problem of information. Existing platforms answer different questions: discovery, bookings, reviews. None of them are structured around which places work best as a base and what they give access to beyond themselves.
That gap felt worth addressing.
My background includes work in Swiss tourism across sales, strategy, and business transformation, including roles at Graubünden Ferien and Switzerland Travel Centre.
Smart Tourism Index is entirely separate from my day-to-day professional work. It is not connected to any current employer or organisation.
The project is open source. The full data pipeline, scoring logic, and source data references are available on GitHub.
That transparency is intentional. A ranking is only as credible as the decisions behind it — and those decisions should be visible and challengeable.
The index is not connected to any tourism board, government body, or commercial platform.
